My starboard motor has had poor acceleration past 2,RPM for a few weeks. I had changed all filters, changed separators, changed spark plugs, cleaned final filter, ran alternate fuel tank, and still no solution. Each motor has two of these. Try swapping one from one motor to the other. If the trouble switches sides with the switch box, that is your problem. This is a very common failure. I suspect dirty injectors.

Your outboard stator is the "powerhouse" of your outboards ignition system. Most Mercury Outboard Stators perform two important functions 1. They provide voltage to your switchbox or CDM's. They charge your vessel's battery s. A faulty or failing stator can cause one or more symptoms. Engine fails to run and has no spark. Engine is hard to start especially after sitting from a run. Engine is low on power or has a "miss". Engine stalls frequently. Engine does not recharge the vessel's battery s.
I installed the new stator and 2 new switch boxes and the engine runs even better than yesterday.
I get conflicting numbers all over the internet on what its supposedto read. I have this stator off a 3cyl force.. On the yellow circuit i get 1 ohm. Be advised that on many Mercury stators, there is a high and a low speed circuit. This one is no different.

Horton hears a who yellow thing
Regards, John Green. New stator part no. Use the correct size allen wrench and remove all of the retainer screws. Check your Service Manual to make sure exactly which tools s are required to remove your flywheel. At this point, with the info on this board, I'm starting to just do it all myself I wasn't satisfied with them saying "everything checks out ok, but it seems to be running rich and doesn't want to idle" The good news is I didn't get charged for the last set of checkups. This allows you to visually observe the spark. Viewing 3 posts - 1 through 3 of 3 total. Ran real well. Sometimes, as in my case, the circuit closes when it cools, allowing the motor to start once again, but giving you an intermittent issue that is by nature hard to diagnose. It would make sense to me also that the main purpose was to give a better, higher amperage charge at lower RPM. You will need a good torque wrench and a good method of holding the flywheel while torquing the nut.

Engine does not recharge the vessel's battery s. This fitting is a one way check valve. Damage, Injury or Death can result if the engine cranks or starts while you are near the flywheel. The white striped wires are apparently the ground side of each of two windings, the high speed and low speed. The motor ran great again last evening. Engine fails to run and has no spark. Total advance is determined by a simple bolt with a lock nut, threaded into the arm, that stops forward movement. Replace it. Last edited by Wildcat Dude; at AM. I consider, that you are mistaken. Let's discuss it.
Quite right! It seems to me it is very excellent idea. Completely with you I will agree.
I can recommend to come on a site on which there is a lot of information on this question.
