The book of life costumes

Each year I the book of life costumes for inspiration for a costume that will allow me to express my creativity, innovation, and spirit of Halloween. My 5-year-old son had recently been watching The Book of Life again. I had seen it before but something specifically caught my attention this time.

Maria Posada wears an off-shoulder top with a red long skirt. Complete ht the look by wearing the hair in a ponytail or by donning a brunette wig. Meanwhile, Manolo Sanchez wears a black bull-fighting coat and pants styled with gold-toned embellishments and patches. He wears boots, too. He also carries a guitar. The film follows over two lads competing over Maria Posada.

This homemade costume for families entered our Halloween Costume Contest. The characters are La Muerte and Xibalba who are the rulers of the land of the remembered and the land of the forgotten. We picked these characters for a few reasons. Also, Chase is part of a Spanish Immersion program where his kindergarten class of English speaking students are taught is Spanish only. We thought this was an excellent opportunity to go along with the cultural part of his studies. For Chase's costume we started with a blazer purchased from Good Will.
