Ok, so, I first heard about this read on a facebook page that I am in, and I have to admit, I am so glad I found out about it! It also probably would have made sense to read Tower of Dawn when I first got it, but I waited until Kingdom of Ash was released to get around to it. Kind of glad that I did and I was glad that my first read was the tandem read. Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn run on the near exact same timeline. While Aelin is off doing her own thing in Empire of Storms, we see what Chaol is up to while he is healing over in Tower of Dawn. There are events that happen in both and by switching you can bridge the gap between them. If reading this as a reread, this should be fun for you. If this is your first time, prepare for things to get a little wild! I found that the easiest way to get through the swap list was to go and tag each swap point with a sticky tab. When reading, remove the tab, stick it on the back of your bookmark before placing it at your spot before swapping. I hope you guys enjoy the read as much as I did! Have fun and happy reading! Sarah J. And her three current series have enough overlap that they should be read in a specific order. This could make things complicated for readers who have never picked up one of her novels. Only one of her fantasy series has different possible reading orders, and these are easy enough to navigate. And while her series are connected, reading them in the correct order will eliminate any confusion surrounding her larger fantasy universe. Throne of Glass consists of seven full-length novels and a novella collection , the majority of which follow Celaena Sardothien. Celaena begins the series as an imprisoned assassin competing to work for the king — and eventually regain her freedom.

I was uncertain about what order I wanted to read the "Throne of Glass" series in when I devoured it this fall. I've read "Throne of Glass" before, as well as Sarah J. Maas' two other series about faeries , but I decided to reread "TOG" ahead of the release of the third installment of the "Crescent City" series, " House of Flame and Shadow, " in the hopes that Aelin may make an appearance as Maas' series crossover. As I settled into my reread, I was well aware of the debate among the "Throne of Glass" fandom about the best order to read the books in , particularly when it comes to "The Assassin's Blade, "Empire of Storms," and "Tower of Dawn. For the first half of the eight-book series, I stuck to the same reading order I followed the first time around, saving "The Assassin's Blade" for before "Queen of Shadows" instead of reading it before "Throne of Glass. As such, most people read one after the other, but some people read them at the same time, which the fandom refers to as "the tandem read. I had been curious about tandem reading "Empire of Storms" and "Tower of Dawn," as it seemed logical to me because the events of the novels happen concurrently. In "Empire of Storms," Aelin Ashryver Galathynius and her fledgling court try to rally an army to fight Erawan, and they're quickly joined by the newly crowned King of Adarlan, Dorian Havilliard, after the Valg conquer his land. During the visit, he also works with a healer from the Torre Cesme to fix his spine, which Dorian's father, the former King of Adarlan, broke when he was possessed by a Valg demon before his death.
