We particularly encourage proposals that address topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and those that have discipline and geographical diversification. Students enroll in 2 English-taught courses 8 UCSD quarter units and class sized are between students. Global Seminars provide a unique way to earn credit for your major, minor, GEs, or college requirements, all while exploring a new country and culture. Open to ALL majors. The Netherlands is a leader in numerous dimensions of sustainable planning, development and design including innovations in multi-modal transportation, adaptive reuse, landscape architecture and urban design, alternative energy sources, green infrastructure, affordable housing, and strategies to combat sea-level rise. Class sizes are between 15—28 students, so there are excellent opportunities for one-on-one interaction with some of the best faculty at UCSD. All courses are taught in English, except for the courses that are part of an intensive language program. Our mission is to increase access to study abroad opportunities for all students in good academic and disciplinary standing regardless of socio-economic status, race, gender, sexuality, or disability. Our programs are designed to provide a supportive environment where students can pursue an academically meaningful experience with highly rated faculty members focused on socially relevant topics for credit towards their degree.

This would only be done in extreme circumstances, including but not limited to the following conditions: if the program does not reach minimum enrollment levels, if the US State Department issues a Travel Warning for the destination country, if the faculty member is unable to teach the program and we are unable to find a replacement, or if other unforeseen circumstances arise. In such circumstances every effort would be made to provide students with a refund contingent upon recoverable fees. I thoroughly enjoy teaching a Global Seminar because it brings students and faculty together in impactful and memorable ways. You must accept personal responsibility for following them. They were also able to develop practical health interventions within the context of the place we were studying, so the exercise was not done in hypothetical imaginaries but grounded in the realities of local life.
