My most all encompassing factor when ranking the McMenamins hotels that I took into account was the property. McMenamins runs a lot of specials and has quite a few package options, that change throughout the year, so be sure to check those out! McMenamins Edgefield is one of my favorite properties overall and has so much packed into the acre property. The clam chowder is New England style and full of a lot of clam. There are more spots then just Jerry's Ice House that pay homage to the great performer, here is a Jerry Garcia statue found on the grounds. With the Anderson School Brewery onsite, this is also a great spot to get your try a beer flight stamp or take a tour of the brewery and get your brewery tour stamp. The property also has golf and tons of outdoor fire pits, perfect for day drinking. One of the other big factors I used when evaluating each McMenamins hotel — bars! Plan for parking to be a bit tough and given the limited amenities, have some day plans in and around Tacoma. McMenamis Gearhart is also home a secret room — always a fun addition! The Olympic Club is located in downtown Olympia, which is super cute, but it is also located on top of a freight train. If you want your own private bathrooms make sure you select the private room option when booking. As you partake in the offerings and wonder just where you are, enjoy the classic blues music playing. I recommend grabbing a drink at the counter and just enjoying the setting. The Sand Trap Pub has the longest hours, open 7 days a week for all three meals, while all other bars at this location run on limited hours.
