Alyson Mahar recently received five years of funding from the Canadian Cancer Society for work looking into gaps that exist in cancer care in Canada. The cancer returned one year later. After the cancer returned, Mahar and Duncan, who both worked in the public health field, decided to do something with the situation they were handed while they could. The idea was to develop a national platform and website focused on cancer treatment inequities that exist in Canada. Mahar said the priorities on the platform will be gaps identified by patients and their families, and those will be looked into further using health databases like the one at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy. Duncan passed away in February , before the project got off the ground. Megan's husband Jeff said he can't think of a better way to honour a caring wife, mother, and friend. She said she expects to be back to work in the next few weeks to begin the project she and Duncan dreamed of doing together. Haylin Lussier went home and screamed after the student's town voted for a bylaw banning Pride flags and rainbow crosswalks from municipal property. For some reason Megan is Missing feels like the horror movie the horror community has forgotten. Everyone remembers the full body creeps they felt while watching. Everyone has those scenes from the end of the movie etched into their mind forever. This is one of the scariest movies from the past 10 years and no one talks about it. The plot centers around normal girls who could live down the street from you. Nothing supernatural happens, nothing that takes a giant leap of faith to believe in. The girls are basic, typical high school students who meet a guy online. Nothing about this is unusual until Megan goes missing. Her best friend Amy searches for her and confronts the guy she met online, until she, too, is abducted.
