Not many people know that at one point, Volvo offered a V8 in a select few of their vehicles. It's a wonderfully powerful and smooth engine that has ample torque, spins fast with a high redline, and has an amazing exhaust note once uncorked with an aftermarket exhaust. The official designation for Volvo's V8 engine is the BS. If you break the name down, it stands for "Bensin Gasoline 8-cylinder 4. This was not a Yamaha design, instead it was designed by Volvo and manufactured by Yamaha. The engine made horsepower and foot pounds of torque, which were respectable figures at the time. The engine first appeared in the Volvo XC90 in , and was used in both that and the second-gen S80 until it was discontinued in Interestingly, the engine made another appearance in the Noble M, although it was heavily modified with two turbochargers and custom internals that allowed it to make horsepower. That's more than double its original power output!
