But that ends now! Just one hour north of where we live in Maryland is the charming, historic town of Havre De Grace where we recently spent one day eating and drinking the best it has to offer. Residents of Maryland are lucky to have an array of landscapes all within three hours of driving. My inner Gilmore Girl squealed with delight stepping into this beautiful inn. With only one day to eat and drink our way through Havre De Grace, staying downtown in an area that was walkable to the nearby restaurants and breweries was very important to us. There are but a few places that fit the bill, and for us it was Vandiver Inn that won us over. The rooms are cozy, stylishly decorated and outfitted with luxurious toiletries. Many even come equipped with their own fireplace. We were eager to warm up next to ours after our clothes got drenched on our evening walk in the cold December rain. Each evening, the staff welcomes guests to enjoy a complimentary beverage in a sort of happy hour where you can relax and mingle with the other guests. Too far for walking, but with a designated driver or utilizing Uber or other taxi services, you can be in downtown Havre De Grace in just a few minutes. This latest trip was no exception and when The Vineyard Wine Bar appeared on our radar we knew it would be the focal point of our one day eating and drinking in Havre De Grace. Stepping into this restaurant, we immediately sensed it was going to live up to the hype. We grabbed two seats at the bar and quickly the other empty stools around us were filled in by tourists and locals alike. You can get a whole pie or by the slice. We have coffee, hot chocolate, frozen drinks and a lite breakfast. Also make a point to stop in here when I'm in the area. And most of all throw trash in the trash and nowhere else. A glass of bubbles to start followed by interesting reds from Spain, Croatia and beyond.
