Clearly, the volume of prayers aren't proportional to the outcome. But England were being just the England that the world had braced themselves to watch. They've turned up a few weeks late, but they've turned up nevertheless. India, too, were the India England saw in , and it's really no surprise that they're being booed out here by the crowd. Until, intent returns, ta ta!! Eoin Morgan Winning skipper : I thought we had a perfect start. Winning the toss and batting first wasn't an easy decision but it turned out to be a very good decision. I wasn't confident about it in the morning but it worked out really well for us. We played extremely well, Jason Roy coming back in and Jonny's hundred was pleasing to watch. Partnerships throughout took us to a really formidable total. From overs we got about runs which is quite substantial. It lays a huge platform and the two main threats - the spinners of India were taken on. Throughout the first innings, the constant feedback was that it was getting difficult to bat on with the ball gripping. Hopefully this is the brand of cricket that we want to play and it has taken off.
Harsha Bhogle : Well played New Zealand.
Right, so that's an end to India's campaign at the World Cup. This pattern of bowing out in the knockout stages of ICC tournaments will now be starting to haunt them a bit. Since their win in the Champions Trophy, they have at least made it to the semifinals everytime but don't have a title to show. This is still a good side though, and bar a couple of changes, will continue to be a force. As for New Zealand, what can one say about them. They are forever underestimated, under the radar but do their job efficiently when it matters the most. Successive World Cup final appearances is no joke and they have a chance to go one step further than this time.

Wowhead tier set
All the hardwork that's gone on in these four years, and to execute with such a good game is unthinkable. It still nearly worked but India were guilty of not being smarter, especially during the middle overs where some questionable shots hurt them. Then bowlers bowled really well today. Williamson's captaincy was sensational too and he was calm even when India threatened. Phillips the ray of hope amidst New Zealand's gloom. It's crazy that things fall in place like that randomly.
