The Crips is an alliance of street gangs that is based in the coastal regions of Southern California. Founded in Los Angeles, California, inmainly by Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams, the Crips were initially a single alliance between two autonomous gangs; westside crip is now a loosely-connected network of individual "sets", often engaged in open warfare with one another. Traditionally, since aroundwestside crip, its members have worn blue clothing. The Westside crip are one of the largest and most violent associations of street gangs in the United States.

In recent years they have added th Street as a fourth click of UG. But most clicks slowly died down a few years after, leaving only th and th as the main bunch. People in the neighborhood then began calling them cripples, or "Crips" for short.
