Dragon Ball Z features plenty of unique and powerful foes , so it makes sense that at least some of them would fade from the spot-light as more memorable enemies arrived on the scene. But the very first villain of this era of the franchise, Raditz, deserved far more attention than he actually got. Raditz is largely just a footnote in the history of Dragon Ball Z when he could have been a far more vital character to the franchise. Raditz is the first antagonist of Dragon Ball Z. Before then, the villains of Dragon Ball were largely comedic or mystical. Even the most fearsome, like King Piccolo , were eventually contained after long battles.

SonicNash 11 years ago 1. Join the Z fighters? I mean they will obey Vegeta no matter what even if they don't like the idea. For that matter, why they never rebuild the Saiyan planet and revived everyone? Wouldn't Goku be curious to meet his father? They never crossed path when Goku was dead. SailorSatourne 11 years ago 3. A couple of ideas come to mind. The biggest is that, by the time the earth was facing a threat that required help, and during which time the dragon balls were readily available, and all other more important wishes were already taken care of, it had already been a years since either one died.
Vegeta was charging Gas at about 13 mph. Sign Up for free or Log In if you already have an account to be able to post messages, change how messages are displayed, and view media in posts.
It would probably take longer for him to become a good guy; Goku and Gohan would take longer to trust him since he stole Gohan away when he was a kid and tried to kill Goku despite them been brothers. Based on the games, Raditz is one of those few individuals that Goku maintains his negative opinion of, despite usually been forgiving of most other enemies. Additionally, Gohan also speaks in disgust about Raditz when recalling his memories of him. The only one in the family who doesn't appear to outwardly despise him is Goten - which is due to him having never met Raditz and with him instead humorously calling Raditz by the name "Mr. Him having changed his ways in Hell after seeing how strong his brother had become along with him having killed Frieza and other villains and resolved to improve himself as a result.
The Dragon Ball franchise has experienced significant changes since its debut, and the characters have achieved unimaginable levels of strength. Dragon Ball proves that its heroes can always improve, but there are also plenty of individuals who have perished in combat and disappeared from the picture. This is a rather huge shame, as Nappa and Raditz could be up to some impressive things if they were still a part of the Dragon Ball saga. Accordingly, Raditz and Nappa are two the strongest characters to have been encountered when they first appear. Their quick executions manage to restrict their growth, and they stagnate while everyone alive hits new milestones. It goes without saying that intensive training is necessary for these two Saiyans to remain relevant. That being said, if these two Saiyans stayed alive then it makes sense that their interests would eventually shift over to the Dragon Balls. They could even use the Dragon Balls to create a new Planet Vegeta, which they rule together. Accordingly, they are characters that never get exposed to such a transformative process. A fusion between these two would be a quick way to rise to their level and benefit from the element of surprise.

He is the opening antagonist in the DragonBall Z Abridged series as well as the first Saiyan seen on screen apart from Goku himself and one of the first characters seen onscreen. He was one of the four known remaining Saiyans left alive after his home world was destroyed. He originally seeks Goku in order to recruit him to conquer more planets, but then decides to kidnap his nephew Gohan. In the original anime, Raditz is Goku's older brother and a mid-class saiyan who comes to earth to re-employ Goku who has lost the memory of his early childhood to the Planet Trade Organization, revealing Goku's alien origins and setting Goku's ultimate destiny in motion. After Goku dies, Bulma and Krillin remove Raditz's scouter from his corpse. Bulma modifies the scouter so it can display numbers rather than the alien symbols that are used by Frieza 's forces. The scouter later explodes when Goku powers up during his fight with Vegeta.

If you wanted to go further, maybe have him and Bardock be the reason Goku escapes from Hell via linking their energies alongside Piccolo and Dende; Raditz also apologizing to Goku for his past actions once you get the joke of him been confused at Goku been young again out of the way and helping him against Super 17, with him maybe doing Goku's Full Nelson on the Android so Goku can do his Dragon Fist in a homage to their battle in the past - with the two making peace properly and leaving the option open for Goku to bring him back. But Raditz brought a more cosmic-level threat with him. He wasn't revived at any point in the canon series and remained at best a footnote. Even the most fearsome, like King Piccolo , were eventually contained after long battles. Or he could have stayed a genuine villain, training on his own and remaining a stark reminder of what Vegeta could have become if he didn't adjust to Earth. Vegeta and Goku were both unusually powerful for Saiyans.
Once Piccolo kills Raditz and Goku with the Special Beam Cannon, the former is completely left in obscurity, save for a few mentions and cameos here and there.
DK 7 years ago 1 Of the three Saiyans, it was heavily implied Vegeta was the most evil later implied to be due to Frieza's influence , and yet he's now Earth's second greatest protector. Additionally, Gohan also speaks in disgust about Raditz when recalling his memories of him. Nappa and Raditz might not have actually had that much potential to increase their power.
