Why is Tide Original more than double the price for the same amount? While it carries the Tide name, it is not the same formula as original Tide and does not contain the needed ingredients to remove tough stains and odor. Should be an obvious answer - original has more detergent and cleaning ingredients inside to give a better, more thorough clean. It contains much less cleaning power, and tries to mask it with a strong scent to fake a good clean. IMO, adequate for use on lightly soiled clothes, but you'll want to use something with a more powerful punch for anything nice or soiled. Original Tide has enzymes in it which are more expensive cleaning agents. Simply Clean is just a straight detergent with no enzymes. To make it equivalent to Original Tide you would have to use an enzymatic cleaner like OxyClean along with it. Tide Original also has water softeners.

Love this product; have used it for a long time. It cleans well with out the harsh smells that are usually in scented detergents. I don't want to have to worry about fragrances or dyes making their skin itchy, dry or red.

I recently bought 2 more bottles, only to be met with a nasty smell as well as a brown color instead of clear. As money is extremely tight, I was excited to find an affordable laundry detergent only for it to turn into a waste of money. Very disappointed. I just went to use it again and it was brown and smelled.. I keep it on a shelf in my laundry room and it is not exposed to sunlight. I think.

I was hoping to see the same kind of incredible cleaning power as regular tide, but I was underwhelmed. The formula use to be thick, now it is watered down and less detergent. I can actually use this product with no problems! I think there should be a little more clarification on that claim. I was able to use this on a load of whites and towels. Cheaper, not better.
