In transforming the building into a 21 st Century medical facility, the newest and one of the most innovative Private Hospitals in London, the team sensitively worked with the existing facade, retaining it on three sides. A new western elevation was designed to facilitate the 30,sqm of internal area 33 grosvenor place london the bedrooms. Delivering an exemplary patient experience was central to the design from the outset.

The 33 Grosvenor Place project was a challenging one. The Onsernone granite for the main reception and lobby areas had to be extracted from a quarry in Switzerland, before being dry laid in the cutting factory in Italy. The layouts had to be examined and approved by architects PLP before shipping. Then they had to be carefully labelled and recorded before being packed in crates, after which they were installed on-site to the approved layouts and dimensions. The remit from the architect and client for the operating theatres was to deliver a product that would be free from contamination, seamless and easily maintained. We solved this by installing an in-situ resin floor: we used the Mondecco range by Flowcrete coupled with a terrazzo coved skirting.
