I think the designers of the "Serpentine Belt" should be proud of themselves. What's a Serpentine Belt? I'm glad you asked. Remember the days when your engine would have a v-belt from the crank to the alternator, then another from the crank to the power steering, then another to the water pump, then another to the air conditioning Well some bright spark decided they could make a single belt spin all those peripherals. And, they made it wide with multiple "v"s, and self tensioning, and super strong, and, well, I've just gotta say thanks.

Like a fool I took off the old serpentine belt and did not note the route of it. Now I am in the process of putting the new belt on and I do not know the routing of it. The auto parts store have a diagram but it not even close to what the van looks like. Can someone please post a diagram from the shop manual on the routing of the belt. You will be a life saver. The 6 refers to the the number of ribs on the belt, the P indicates metric, the K indicates it is an automotive belt, and the final four numbers is the effective length of the belt being mm. You can use a slightly different size belt, though I am uncertain how much leeway is allowed. I've looked up a few different brands to give you an idea. I'll edit the post and add it in there. Funny story, I got a self-propelled garden tiller on clearance cause it was missing some parts. My power steering and all of that works, but the AC compressor has no belt on it and I have the belt but am unsure on what pulley's to attach it to. You might add to your steps, unless I missed it, to remove the plastic air vent mounted on top of radiator that ties also into air cleaner box. From the water pump go to the alternator.
