Over the past few years, Arendal Sound has been building a reputation as a loudspeaker manufacturer that makes high-performance but affordable home theater-centered speakers. They are a Norwegian company whose main market is Europe, but they ship worldwide, and they are set up to be easily purchased and shipped across the globe. They make THX-certified speakers that look nice enough to not be out of place in an upscale living room. Many of the speakers that have that level of performance married to that level of looks tend to cost a fortune. Packing was good for the Monitors, but it needs to be since they all ship by parcel post from their warehouse in the Netherlands. They were packed in a sturdy cardboard box with edge protectors all around. They were sandwiched between two polyethylene pieces with another piece protecting the middle - a good idea for the shape of this speaker. Inside, the speaker was covered in a drawstring rayon sack to protect it against scuffing and moisture, a very elegant touch! Furthermore, they come shipped with cotton gloves to handle the speaker without leaving fingerprints on the finish. That is certainly going the extra mile and shows pride in their product. Once uncovered, the Monitor is quite an attractive speaker of its type, that being a large stand-mount speaker. It had an unexpectedly fine gloss white finish over a front baffle with beveled edges and some sleek-looking drivers.

We did all of this because it delivers better audible results.

They are built to the exact same quality level with the same features, and core parts. The goal with S was to add a matching set of smaller-sized speakers, which would seamlessly match the Series without any form of timbre matching issues whatsoever. The only difference from the THX speakers, is the smaller 6. The optimal choice for more a compact yet incredibly powerful and dynamic sound experience. Top Bottom. These speakers look nice, and, much like the Monitors I reviewed before them, they do look like they should cost more than what they do. Another very impressive attribute of the Monitors is the build quality. Newman Major Contributor. This is probably a worthwhile trade-off for most people since few users of the series are likely to take full advantage of their dynamic range. My quest for a Center Speaker One nifty aspect of the Monitor design is the versatility for a range of applications. No room correction equalization was used. The only real reason to seal the ports on a speaker like this is to get it to blend better with a subwoofer if there are some integration problems. I guess I though it was a package deal or something, but if it's just a package by selecting each speaker manually then ok. Sound is huge. I have never understood the point of offering speakers with white cabinets but black grilles. Once everything was settled and ready to go, I connected them to my Acoustic Invader preamp and amplifier combination , with the preamp nowadays being a higher-end version of the same brand, named Fulcrum.

This is as good as it gets, even at much higher price levels.

The measurements were gated at 8-milliseconds. The tweeter crosses over to the woofer at 1. Using several bass and midbass drivers, and also placing a tweeter inside a waveguide, made these speakers very responsive and sensitive. There were edge protectors and corner protectors on the outside as well as the inside of the boxes. It gets a lot closer to her natural voice as well as the other instruments and singers with very little studio gloss. The S tower presents a rather benign 4-ohm load, making it relatively easy to drive. Ageve said:.
