Version 4. I stumbled upon this last night after not imaging for a couple weeks due to weather. So far, so good. The look and feel are basically the same with only slight visual tweaks. One of the standing problems with Deep Sky Stacker has been the lack of a 64bit version. Having only a bit option for DSS only allowed for the use of a maxiumum of 4GB of RAM — in reality it was much less due to other system limitations. Click here to skip to our walkthrough on using DSS. Deep Sky Stacker, DSS for short, is a commonly used software for doing image calibration and image stacking of astrophotography images. Despite being a free software, DSS offers a complete set of advanced settings and methods and is also one of the fastest calibration and stacking software for deep sky imaging. Two versions of DSS are available: the bits version, ideal for old computers and Windows tablets, and the bits version, which is your best option when working with modern computers.
