Team Natsu begins their search for the Five Dragon Gods in the city of Ermina , with one of them looking down on them from afar. Meanwhile, in Magnolia , Gajeel gets a team together to investigate their suspicious new member, Touka. Lucy recalls their exchange with Elefseria before their departure, in which the old dragon regarded the Fairy Tail mages as his last hope of completing the quest. Though they typically stay out of worldly affairs, Elefseria, wary of their potential for destruction, learned dragon slayer magic to seal them away. Elefseria directs the Fairy Tail mages towards the harbor of Ermina , where a religion dedicated to Mercphobia , the Water Dragon, had previously been practiced by its residents. Upon arriving at the town, Team Natsu begins looking for lodging, unaware that they are being watched by a mysterious man and woman , the latter of whom refers to her companion as the Water God.

Team Natsu embarks on the years quest to "seal" five potentially destructive Dragons in hiding known as the Five Dragon Gods , all equal in standing with Acnologia.
