One would be hard-pressed to talk about some of the most legendary gaming franchises of all time without mentioning the behemoth that is the Fallout series. Originally a product of Interplay Entertainment, Fallout switched publishers and ended up with Bethesda, which did a fine job of bringing over the complexity and nuance of the Fallout series into a first-person perspective with Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. However, there's a sizable section of the fanbase that believes that the Fallout series wasn't really done justice by Bethesda themselves, but rather by another video game development studio that took over the reins and delivered a role-playing experience that was more in line with the franchise's roots. It doesn't take an expert to state that the studio in question here is Obsidian Entertainment, with their title Fallout: New Vegas being widely considered by many to be superior to Bethesda's offerings. However, this topic has been the subject of furious debate time and time again, with both sides putting forth valid points in favor of their preferred game. To contextualize this argument, here are five points each detailing out why one of these games surpasses the other in terms of quality.

Fallout 4 has some decent parts but due to the shortcomings it has, especially as a Fallout game it just end up being a another shallow shooter, and I don't play Fallout for that.

Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas may be part of the same series, but the two games have some significant differences. From the way they set up their stories to the games' open worlds, combat, and companions, the pair often pull in different directions when it comes to their core design principles. Both Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas also experimented with the Fallout formula in ways that the other game did not. Here's a breakdown of all of the differences, and how they make two games which seem similar on a surface level each very different experiences to play. Fallout 4 and New Vegas begin in two very different ways. Fallout: New Vegas starts with the Courier being shot in the head and left for dead by Benny and his associates. They awaken in Doc Mitchell's office in Goodsprings, determine their appearance and basic stats, and are sent out into the Mojave Wasteland with a single objective should they choose to pursue it — finding Benny. This introduction is notably non-prescriptive, even for a Fallout game. It is one of the few Fallout intros that doesn't begin in a Vault-Tec vault , leaving the player character's identity and past in the hands of the player far more than most installments in the series.

The Fallout series is known for being innovative, interactive, and accessible to many gamers through use of great writing, gameplay, and overall atmosphere. It's one of my all-time favorite games out there, and I'm not alone in that. Bethesda kicks some major butt in making an environment that is immersive, realistic, and makes it feel like we have landed right in the middle of a nuclear wasteland. The characters are dynamic, the choices feel real, and the radio is the perfect soundtrack to wandering. As a series, it's just great. The most recent installment is Fallout 4, which is by far the most impressive game in the series. Though there have been many games in the series thus far, the installment prior to 4 is Fallout: New Vegas which is one of the most coveted games to Fallout fans. That being said, in terms of quality, 4 is the clear choice; here is why. Look at this cute-ass German Shepard, all armored out and cute.

This means that every stat in the game is meaningful in some way, allowing gamers to engage in a role-playing experience unlike anything else released at that time. A lot of people are saying NV is still the better game than Fallout 4. The Power Armor is accessible pretty early on in Fallout 4 and allows players to truly make the most of this armor, with everything from improved suits to full-on customizations making for one of the most engaging applications of the iconic Power Armor in Fallout 4. It has a lot of really cool things that 3 did not and also that they didn't add into FO4 sadly. Taking part in the quest lines of all these characters is an absolute must for anyone who's just getting into the game and wishes to make their experience as memorable as possible. I would ask, what did Fallout 4 do better than NV, and answer my own question with "nothing". The atmosphere is much more appealing than in F4, at least in my opinion.

It also isn't realistic to compare a game 5 years older in terms of graphics, the tech wasn't there to achieve the level of detail in F4. One thing that Fallout 4 should definitely be applauded for is giving players a ton of things to do. Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic harassment, fighting, or rude posts. It's not even close to being better. Roaming around the wasteland feels incredibly immersive due to the amazing graphical fidelity present in the game. However, this topic has been the subject of furious debate time and time again, with both sides putting forth valid points in favor of their preferred game. Factions are also better thought out and more believable in New Vegas, the characters are more interesting and memorable. While New Vegas might emerge as the clear victor when it comes to the narrative, it falls short by quite a wide margin when it comes to gameplay. DrakoVongola1 8 years ago 4. I just could find the will to play New Vegas.
