Flotsam is a survival simulation video game developed and published by Pajama Llama Games , which released in early access on Steam , Kartridge, GoG , Itch. It was previously published by Kongregate , until the developers self-published it in Flotsam is a townbuilding survival game. In the game you start with a group of stranded survivors in a flooded world. The gameplay revolves around you as a player guiding these survivors through the world while recycling all the garbage that is found in the ocean.

Recycle the Seven Seas! The starting point is one functional boat manned by three drifters and the goal is to build a functional, mobile town around with all the trash society left behind when it came to an end. Flotsam is being developed by Pajama Llama Games as the company's first long-term project. It entered Steam Early Access on 26 Sept, As of June 25, , the challenge of the game is limited to managing hunger, thirst, and tiredness of the crew, further challenged by disease and increasing stat penalties for each day needs aren't met. Each drifter comes with a randomly selected pre-flood and post-flood skill presented as their backstory that determines their stat perks, which aren't affected by the aforementioned penalties. Also recruitable are seagulls, which scavenge the sea's surface for plastic and wood, thereby freeing up time for the drifters.

Flotsam is a bit like Sim City meets Waterworld: You have to build a town and take care of its people, but you've got to do it on the water, using scrounged bits of floating crapola, and then sail your settlement across a sprawling world full of ruins, underwater cities, and great coral reefs brimming with life and garbage.
