Murlocs have long been the reigning minion type in Hearthstone Battlegrounds , which is very much thanks to their ability to become Poisonous units. Though there are obviously ways to counter them, they are nonetheless forces to be reckoned with. But, Murlocs are in an interesting place because the value that each one brings to the table is directly reliant on having other Murlocs on the board. With that in mind, this list will rank the eight best Murlocs solely based on how they function within a full Murloc team. Swampstriker is a great tier-one minion to pick up and get stacking early in the game. Swolefin is a very self-sufficient Murloc, as he has the potential to be the biggest one before any buffs from other Murlocs come through. He is an excellent Murloc to have in the mid-game due to how buffed up he can get all by himself with a team of Murlocs already present, though. Once the late game comes around, however, he is just like any other Murloc who just gets buffed up by the others and is given Poisonous. Even so, he truly excels through his mid-game power, landing him a spot on this list. When it comes to cycling Murlocs, Primalfin Lookout is your best bet. True, Tad is good for cycling Murlocs as well, but Primalfin Lookout is far superior because you can pick one of three Murlocs to add to your hand instead of one simply being added to it at random. This can allow you to pick the buff you want usually while making it easier for you to get a few more golden minions than normal. The reason for this is to increase their health, of course, but there is something important to point out: once your Murlocs get Poisonous, their attack power becomes irrelevant and the only stat that matters is their health. Saltscale Honcho is an incredible way to do this since he's only a tier-two minion and accessible quite early in the game. As good as Saltscale Honcho is at stacking health on your Murlocs, Coldlight Seer is even better, especially if you can pick up a lot of them.

In Battlegrounds , just like it did in Hearthstone , the Murloc archetype is going through a delicate period since the removal of the Nightmare Amalgam. Many players are put off by the difficulties of setting up a good composition. However, Murlocs are still extremely fearsome and if you can tame them, they can take out any hero with any board. In itself, it's not very complicated to play Murlocs. The problem is whether you will be lucky enough to have the right minions at the right time. Murloc is the archetype with the least number of creatures — only nine, including five in the first 2 levels of the tavern alone.

Murloc Warlock is an aggressive tribal deck that utilises Murloc synergies to dominate the board. While Murlocs individually are quite weak, when played together, they allow the deck to snowball out of control quickly, often catching opponents off-guard for swift victories. In your mulligan you should look for a strong early-game opener as Murloc Warlock is at its strongest at low Mana costs, becoming less effective as the game goes longer. Unlike more traditional Murloc decks, this modern iteration of Murloc Warlock aims for a more passive early game to give itself long-term benefits. Ideally you should open up with Rock Bottom followed by Chum Bucket in order to give a significant buff to any Murlocs in your hand.
