There are a lot of great car and hot rod builders out there. We were very fortunate to grab an hour of his time to talk about all things Dave Kindig, Kindig-It Designs and custom cars. Oh man, born and raised just loving them.

After watching all these American Car build programmes you get on TV, they seem to spend an awful lot of time on some of the builds, bodywork, paint, new bits etc. Anyone know what sort of price they cost the owners? The Ridler Award is widely regarded the most prestigious award for elite show cars on the planet. To even qualify as a contender, the builds must be kept tightly under wraps before the covers come off at the Detroit Autorama. From there, the eight finalists are chosen. The theme of the built was inspired by the Motorama concept car known as the Corvair pictured below. And the V12? As the name suggests, the brothers built a V12 initially by cutting and shutting two LS1 blocks. They later came up with their own custom V12 blocks, in either aluminium or cast iron. We made a lot of custom castings for the car too. There is a prize for anyone who can figure out how that intake works! Shifting gears for Dave and Tracy is a 8L90E transaxle.
What a business to be in! It was orange with black interior, fastback. I did a four or five color airbrushed custom paint job in my garage which really got me the start of people wanting me to work on their cars.

Employing a Roadster Shop chassis and repositioning floor pans lower than the original Corvette, Kindig's team retained the car's original wheelbase while increasing interior space by 4 inches.

As I was moving some stuff around the storage room, I noticed I have a big box of model cars I had never finished, including some of my favorite old archives. My wife and I like to get away, not necessarily have to be in a car. We basically put out a media blitz that we were going to get the opportunity to build a GM Future Liner, one of the 12 Parade of Progress buses. We made a lot of custom castings for the car too.
