Afternoon all, I'm just about to prep a room for decorating and I was wondering about lead paint. House was built in and I've just stripped some old wall paper off. Some of the yellow paint, which i suspect is water based because it's very thin, came away underneath so in some spots, it's back to plaster. Having had a good old Google, I can't determine whether lead was used in wall paint in this era. Can anyone clarify before I have at it with the sander? Hammertime , Mar 3, Thanks for the reply. I assume distemper is ok to sand? Was using Magnet paint up to Astramax , Mar 3, Hammertime likes this. You must log in or sign up to reply here.

Digital testing equipment is ideal for exact measurements of many variables. Multi detectors are great workhorses as they indicate the presence of metal within a wall such as studs, steel framing and electrical wires so can be used for a wide range of projects. For more specialist tasks we have a range of multimeters, digital thermometers, mains testers, pressure testers and inspection cameras. See more Hand Tools. Bosch Multi detector. Definitely very thin layer and black in colour. I suspect the test wipes tend to be a trifle over sensitive to err on the safe side. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account? Would this mean lead paint was there previously and seaped into the wood? I was careful not to burn any paint, but I did observe some fumes and some drifted into the house I only used the heat gun on the outside of the frame , and the smoke alarm in my hallway was set off. Bloody relieved to see this comment.
I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are mistaken. Let's discuss it. Write to me in PM, we will talk.
