In this informative video, pro bass angler Cody Huff takes us on a tour of his Garmin LiveScope Plus fish finder while scanning a school of bass in a brush pile. He shows his go-to settings for finding and catching bass in brush piles and most situations in general, including his deep water sharpshooting technique with Rapala Jigging Raps and heavy Jigs. Huff starts by emphasizing the importance of doing a factory reset to get the device back to its default settings before making adjustments. This helps to get you close to the ideal setup for fishing. He also prefers to keep his forward range at around feet. Moving on to the technical side, he goes through his sonar setup menu.

W ell, it seems there are two ways to fish, with or without sonar. One an ancient, mysterious art form of guessing where the fish may be, and the other using our modern technology to leave little mystery at all. If you are going to use sonar, why not go all-out with a setup like the Garmin LiveScope. The LiveScope uses real-time imagery and a foot view below the surface in all directions. I was fortunate to get the new Garmin Livescope Plus technology a couple months before it was available to the public and spent a lot of time testing the settings, limitations, and improved image quality and signal processing to give a full report on the newest forward facing sonar technology from the originators at Garmin. I started using Livescope Plus in early March, and I was testing it mostly in deep water chasing fish that were still out on deep structure and brush waiting for the water to warm. The first thing I noticed was a good bit of improved definition.
