Lucy elfen lied
The so-called 'Queen' Dicloniuslucy elfen lied, Lucy, was an individual difficult to pin down by any standard of "good" or "evil" societal mores. She was both ruthlessly tormented and was also a sadistic tormentor to others, driven to a mental breakdown at an early age by the cruelty that surrounded her.
Elfen Lied revolves around the interactions, views, emotions, and differences between human beings and the Diclonii, a mutant species similar to humans in build but distinguishable by two horns on their heads and "vectors", transparent telekinetically controlled arms that have the power to manipulate and cut objects within their reach. The series is centered on the teenage Diclonius girl "Lucy" who was rejected by human beings and subsequently wants revenge. The series' title is a misspelling of "Elfenlied", German for "Elves' Song" or more formally "song of the elves", and takes its name from the song " Elfenlied ", which is featured in the story. Elfen Lied involves themes of discrimination , social alienation , identity , prejudice , revenge , abuse , jealousy , regret , and the value of humanity. It is also noted for the graphic violence , emotional themes of how the characters change through, and the overall transgressive subject matter of the whole story. A episode anime television series adaptation was produced by the studio Arms and broadcast on AT-X from July to October The anime finished airing before the manga was complete; as a result, the plot differed between the two, especially the ending.

The plot and characters are described, below, using in-universe tone. Elfen Lied takes place in Kamakura , Japan, where a fictional mutant human sub-species, with violent telekinetic powers, has been discovered. Known as a Diclonius, any person showing signs of the mutation have either been contained in the Diclonius research facility or exterminated. She is assumed to be fifteen but never explicitly stated eighteen in the anime. However, she can be swift and lethal within that range, and will use any nearby objects as high-velocity projectiles to kill at greater distances. She is also capable of stopping or deflecting most standard ammunition when she concentrates on the task. Lucy hates humans mainly because of how she was abused by her human peers as a child, several of whom she eventually killed after they captured a puppy which Lucy had been caring for and beat it to death in front of her; which led to her brutally murdering them out of revenge. Consequently, she discounts non-diclonii, claiming they are not real people, to the point of telling Nana that she has "not killed one of her own yet". She is incredibly sadistic , severing limbs and blinding foes, leaving them to bleed to death rather than killing them outright. Despite this lack of concern for human life she will not harm Kouta, and cries and apologizes for killing his family in a fit of jealousy; she loves Kouta, but due to her actions in the past, she believes he will be content without her existence. As such, she refrains from killing in his presence, except at the series' end, when she kills an entire Special Assault Team unit in front of him. However, Lucy still is not above acts of jealousy, once using her vectors to shove Yuka when she saw her holding hands with Kouta. As the series progresses she develops a wider vocabulary; by the halfway point she is able to speak perfectly normal. Nyu is innocent and incapable of violent acts, a foil to the normally cold and sadistic Lucy; she is the manifestation of her "good side".

Yuka proclaims the newly repaired Maple House to be ready to welcome home Kouta. Kouta then begins a narrative of events in the world. Four months after Lucy's death, the World Health Organization forbade any human births due to the outbreak of births of horned children who would kill Humans as they grew older. Arakawa developed the vaccine needed to prevent these births but seemed unhappy with the fame and recognition she once craved so badly. Between the people killed by the horned children, and the lack of new human births, humankind faced extinction before the widespread inoculations of the vaccine, but once they were in place, the birth ban would be lifted soon, albeit with Earth's population decreased by a large number for some time to come. In a small fragment of the underground grotto that survived the sinking of the island, Anna Kakuzawa emerges alive and well, her monstrous oracle form having been a shell her father crafted to make her a living computer. Anna hears a sound and covers her post-emergence nudity at someone's approach.

The second time, though, she willingly let them die when she sank the island. Kouta enters the story when Yuka's family gives him a closed-down restaurant, the Kaeda House, as long as he maintains it, and begins living there with Yuka while going to a university.
