St Edmund's Church stands on a busy crossroads at the heart of the lively 'village' of Mansfield Mansfield chad, affectionately known by locals as 'Wudhus'. St Chad's Church, 'the jewel of the Vale', lies in the secluded, peaceful setting of historic Mansfield chad Vale. We recently welcomed Andrew Porter as our new vicar along with his wife Cathy, who is also ordained, and his family, mansfield chad.

The Mansfield Chad celebrated its Diamond Jubilee this week and to mark the occasion they have produced this special video, looking back at how they have gathered the news and produced your number one local newspaper — and now website — over the past six decades. Chad also published a special 16 page supplement this week, looking back over the past 60 years of news, views and sport. It included an eight-page Retro, featuring a collection of old photographs from the Chad archives. And to celebrate the anniversary, former employees, readers and members of the public joined us at the Old Town Hall in Mansfield to have a look at our special photographic exhibition. What a brilliant record of the past and the present, recorded for the future. So good to see it on the ourmansfieldandarea web site, giving people far and wide an opportunity to learn about the CHAD.

Mansfield District Council is urging local businesses to celebrate their success by entering this year's Chad Business Excellence Awards. The council is again one of the main sponsors for the annual competition and is underlining its commitment by supporting the Mansfield Business in the Community award. The deadline to submit nominations is 6pm on 28 September. Executive Mayor of Mansfield Andy Abrahams said: "We believe that anything that celebrates the achievements of our thriving business community also supports our vision over the next decade to encourage an ambitious, vibrant and confident place. It is a great way to enhance their company profile, motivate employees, and showcase their achievements and reputation. I would urge all Mansfield businesses to get involved. The council is committed to supporting the local businesses through start-up and growth grants, and advice sessions.
