The world has become inhospitable , forcing what's left of humanity to travel to the Moon in search of a suitable environment. In its absence, 2B and 9S must do everything in their power to ensure the planet is restored to its once habitable state. Their task is far from easy, but it becomes increasingly more difficult the further they progress. Enemies lurk behind every corner and must all be vanquished if the two protagonists wish to fulfill their roles, leaving little room for error. Taunting an enemy during battle is one of the most humanistic traits displayed throughout all of NieR: Automata , but not everyone knows how to do it. The option to taunt enemies in NieR: Automata becomes available quite early in the game, but the way to activate the ability isn't explained until much later. A2 can readily taunt her enemies once she becomes playable, but 2B and 9S will need to discover a different means of mocking their foes. This is how you know you've landed taunt, and at which point you can stop mashing Lstick, because the effect persists for about 10 seconds or so, and then you have to re-apply the effect again. All of those really tough nut, war of attrition fights are best approached with a taunt-stacked setup.
