Our Romania facts were chosen and researched by kids especially for kids and shall provide insights into the geography of this Eastern European country. Where is Romania? Romania is a country in southeastern Europe and is a member country of the EU. About one third of the country are forests. The Carpathian mountain range dominates the centre of the country. Romania has a temperate continental climate. Just over half of all Romanians live in urban centres. Among the larger Romanian cities, however all with a population of less than half a million people, are Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara and Iasi. The northern and eastern parts of Austria are more densely populated. Hungarians are the largest minority group in Romania. They mainly live in eastern Transylvania. Romanian is the official and most spoken first language in Romania. There are several minority languages spoken in the country and these include Hungarian, Vlax Romani, Ukrainian, German, Serbian and Turkish.

Romania, officially the Republic of Romania, is a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and South-eastern Europe. It has an area of , square km. Bucharest is its capital and largest city. The inhabitants or natives of this region are called Romanian. There is much to see and do in Romania , from its beautiful Carpathian Mountains to lush fertile plains, flowing rivers and plentiful lakes. Virgin forests, rich flora and fauna, a bevy of brown bears and ancient caves and bones attract tourists and locals alike.

Part of Romania is circled by the Carpathian Mountains. It also has a border on the Black Sea. Most of the Danube Delta is found inside Romania. Romania shares borders with Hungary and Serbia to the west, Ukraine to the far northeast, the Republic of Moldova to the near northeast, and Bulgaria to the south. Romania is a semi-presidential unitary state. It was created when Moldavia and Wallachia joined together in It was given its independence in the Treaty of Berlin of After the Iron Curtain fell in Romania was liberated from the communist regime.

The largest of the Balkan countries, Romania has dramatic mountain scenery and a coastline on the Black Sea. It has seen numerous empires come and go from the Roman and Ottoman to the Austro-Hungarian.
