One note: rumor has it that AA will be using the series on this route and fitting them with the ridiculous ying-yang seating. You're close enough on a plane without playing footsies.

And while business class is a massive improvement over the seats United flies on many of its other international aircraft, economy is a different story altogether. The location is missing a window, however, it provides excellent privacy due to facing inward and is ideal for solo travelers. While the legroom is good, it is more than offset by the bumping. I'm only 5'9" and when I recline me knees are pressed against the seat in front of me. Seat 39 J is a standard Economy Class seat however, the proximity to the lavatories and galleys may be bothersome. In the middle section, there are 3 places for 4 people to stow items under the seat in front of them. American's seating configuration is the best across the Atlantic, far better than the cramped BA ying-yang, face your neighbor layout. That said it was another excellent product from American and at regular Coach price it was a good deal. Seating reminiscent of Domestic First Class. Tremendous seat, unbelievable service, and fantastic privacy for a biz class seat. However what really spoiled this flight for me was a huge cold breeze that persisted throughout. Massage function was lackluster. In my opinion, the best food on board is served by Air India and Turkish Airlines. Compared to BA and Virgin Atlantic, AA still needs to "get it" about privacy can't they install a curtain or something? Also note the front row don't allow you to have your personal items under the seat rest weird thing with these planes so again more stowage issues.
