Join our Sleep forum for tips on creating a sleep routine for your baby or toddler. Anyone who has attached a full size cot to their bed like a sidecar - what cot are you using? I'm after recommendations. I don't want a piddly little co-sleeper crib again, I want to attach a proper cot. How did you attach them?

A few weeks ago we finally tried side carring the crib and it wound up being the best devision ever! This wound up working so well for us, my daughter was an early roller and had to be un-swaddles way before she was ready and thus would flail herself awake all night. This crib arrangement allows me to reach over and hug her or hold her hands when she wakes herself up and help soothe her back to sleep before she fully wakes. Before this I was up dozens of times each night to calm her and try to get her back to sleep in her crib and most nights I wound up passing out while rocking her which is just not safe at all so this has been way better! I hesitated forever because I liked the crib in the nursery and it was super annoying to take it apart and then get it adjusted just right next to our bed, but it wound up being soooooo worth it! The idea is you fiddle around until you get your mattress and the crib mattress at exactly the same height. For us this meant the crib on the lower setting and then up on some bed risers plus messing around with the assembly of the toddler rail so There was no lip in front of the mattress. I was way too nervous about having her in the adult bed with me, but this is all the benefits of co sleeping with way fewer risks. Most of the time when she stirs now she will settle quickly when I just put a hand on her or put my face near hers so she can hear me breathing. March Birth Club Sidecar Crib!!!!! I did this with our cot when my son was 4 months old. My little still ended up in our bed most of the time though. I saw another genius idea to use pool noodles cut to the right thickness to bump the crib up against the adult mattress. I have been thinking about doing this, but I don't think that I would feel safe leaving him alone in it for naps or the first few hours of the night. When you say "Under no circumstances should a baby ever sleep on a waterbed. I actually bought a ton to see which ones I liked better. Hmm, maybe when our third son arrives, we'll use the crib for more than just storing laundry. I expressly said in the video that you are to use thick foam blocks for infants.
