The Carcharodontosaurus spawn on every map that also has Giganotosaurus because it shares the spawning container with the Giga. The Taming of the Carcharodontosaurus is a special tame and not a knockout tame like the Giga is. There are two different steps to tame a Carchar. In order for the Carchar to trust you, you need to trap it and then feed it dead dinos, similar to the Fjordhawk. Two things are important: You need to be able to carry the dead dino to the Carchar and the dino species need to have a high drag weight because that decides over the trust process in the beginning. In order to create Dinos that are still draggable but have a high species drag weight, we will use Baby dinos. The amount of species that can be dragged by a player is limited.

Taming a Carcharodontosaurus requires a specific taming method unlike any other creature, which can usually simply be knocked out and fed meat. Carcharodontosaurus can be found in the mountains on The Island in Ark: Survival Ascended and are most easily located on the volcano. However, this can create problems with taming as they are dangerous areas that are full of other aggressive creatures that will hunt you, or get into a fight with the Carcharodontosaurus itself. Make sure you have plenty of armor for protection and, ideally, a high-level carnivore tame for protection. Carcharodontosaurus has a unique taming method in Ark: Survival Ascended and, unlike the majority of other carnivores, cannot be tamed via violent knock-out methods. Instead, you must kill other wild creatures and drag the corpses towards the Carcharodontosaurus to gain trust. Therefore, I advise clearing the area of any carnivores that will eat the kill you are presenting, particularly as most of these have bodies that cannot be dragged by your Survivor anyway. Previously, a Cryopod method was used to bring baby dinos to the Carcharodontosaurus in Ark, but they cannot be accessed yet without mods. You will know when a Carcharodontosaurus has accepted your kill when it rears its head up and sniffs the air. When you see this happen, drop the body and retreat. If the kill is not enough to fill the trust meter, it may attack you, so be prepared and get ready to bring another kill. Once the trust meter is filled, the Carcharodontosaurus will allow you to ride them.
It only works if it's not aggressive and does the sniffing animation beforehand.
I have a Carchar trapped on official 1x. Will one dead giga baby enable me to jump on it straight away vs a baby rex? And do you think I can tame it by killing the wilds in the desert on Crystal Isles or do I have to breed Diplodocus to pull the last stage off? Thanks in advance. Who knows???
