Its quite confusing really but when Master Xehanort went into Terra and became Terra-Xehanort, there was a battle and Terra-Xehanort got his memories and personalities locked inside his heart, thus becoming just Xehanort, the one you know in the white lab coat and silver hair. He had obviously forgotton who he was and so Ansem The Wise took him in as his apprentice, and you know the rest of the story; he got obsessed with hearts and the darkness and got turned into a heartless, and his heartless said that it was Ansem. Xehanort , also known as Master Xehanort , is a major character in the Kingdom Hearts series, the central antagonist of the Dark Seeker Saga , and Ephemer 's descendant. Xehanort is the main playable character of Kingdom Hearts Dark Road , which takes place during his youth and explores his journey to becoming the Seeker of Darkness. A Keyblade Master who once taught Ventus , he believes that darkness and light should exist in perfect balance, and for this reason, he seeks to conquer Kingdom Hearts and recreate the worlds according to his wishes. Through his many different incarnations, including Terra-Xehanort , his Heartless Ansem, Seeker of Darkness , his Nobody Xemnas , and the time-travelling Young Xehanort , Xehanort is ultimately responsible for the series of events that repeatedly threaten the worlds with destruction, including the mass release of Heartless into the Realm of Light , the creation of the Nobodies and Organization XIII , and the formation of the real Organization XIII. Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep was originally intended to be Nimoy's final performance before his retirement in , but he came out of retirement and briefly reprised the role in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Prior to this, the character had a single line of dialogue in the opening scenes of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and was voiced Mamoru Miyano in Japanese and David Gallagher in English who both play Riku in their respective languages.

Kingdom Hearts was first released in , and in nearly twenty years, the series has added many prequels and sequel games, which further expanded the Kingdom Hearts lore. For these games, Xehanort was the franchise's main antagonist and is responsible for many key events during the Dark Seeker Saga storyline. Throughout the complex timeline, different versions of Xehanort would appear in several games within the series. With so many variations of the same character, here's an explanation of all the different versions of Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts. Xehanort was once a young Keyblade Master who was obsessed with how the world was first created by darkness. As time passed, Xehanort manipulated events throughout the story in order to accomplish his goal to recreate the world. Through manipulation, Xehanort transferred his soul and consciousness into another Keyblade wielder named Terra. Xehanort's possession of Terra's body is known as Terra-Xehanort, or Terranort. With a new body, Terra-Xehanort planned to enact his goals but was defeated by Aqua.
