Stardew Valley tasks you with reviving your grandfather's farm by growing crops, exploring caves, and building relationships with your new neighbors in the eponymous valley. One of the best aspects of the game is the way that the farming gameplay supports and expands every other part of the experience, giving you money to spend and unlocking helpful features to keep your new life fresh. Typically, you can only grow certain crops in each season, limiting how you farm depending on the time of year — once you unlock the greenhouse, though, you gain the ability to grow any crop you want regardless of the season, and can use this to constantly maximize your profits. The Ancient Fruit is easily one of the best crops in the game to place in the greenhouse due to its high price and ability to continue to produce after its first yield, meaning that no matter how long the crop grows, it will remain a stress-free paycheck that can't die between seasons. If you can go all in on Ancient Fruit for your greenhouse, it would be a great idea — you'll be getting over gold per fruit every seven days, and you'll make even more if you decide to make artisan products out of them. The trouble with the Ancient Fruit, though, is obtaining its seeds, so don't be afraid to focus on a different crop while you stock up in preparation for your ultimate payday. Cranberries are a crop that regrows in five days' time and produces a guaranteed two cranberries from each harvest. Additionally, there's a chance that you'll get extra cranberries whenever you harvest a cranberry plant. Each cranberry is worth 75 gold at the least, but the sheer amount of cranberries that it's possible to get from a single harvest balances this out enough to make it one of the best crops in the game — plus, getting your hands on cranberry seeds is a lot easier than finding some of the few crops that can surpass the cranberry in money-making power. Red cabbage is one of the few crops on this list that doesn't continue to produce after being harvested — it's typically more cost-effective to have a permanent plant that makes continuous money rather than one that you have to keep buying and replanting. But since red cabbage makes a high profit, has applications in a few great recipes, and can only be harvested three times when in season, the greenhouse is a great place to get the maximum value from this crop all year long. The energy buff from the Red Plate dish alone is enough to make red cabbage worth farming. Mixed seeds probably seem like an odd selection, given that they aren't nearly as consistent for making money as planting crops that suit your specific playstyle — but the unpredictability is the thing that makes these random seeds a good fit for the greenhouse.

When Stardew Valley players first inherit their family farm, they might be puzzled to see a broken-down old building in the northwest area. Upon completing the Pantry bundles in the Community Center, however, this building's purpose becomes clear: It's a greenhouse, with a 12x12 plot of tillable soil. After the Junimos restore this building, players can use this area to grow any crop in any season. When new players first gain this amazing resource, though, some aren't sure how to use it most effectively. Here are some tips to help turn the greenhouse into a money-making machine. This page is part of IGN's Stardew Valley Wiki guide and details everything you need to know about the Greenhouse, including how to repair the Greenhouse, how much it costs to restore it, and how to grow crops inside the Greenhouse. When you start playing Stardew Valley, the Greenhouse is just a rundown building you need to repair before you can use it. Once you restore this building, it'll feature a 10x12 plot of land where you can plant crops from any season at any time of the year. However, that's not the only place where you can grow something as there's also a space between the wood border and the Greenhouse walls where you can plant fruit trees. The Greenhouse also features a water trough where you can refill your watering can, and since this is an indoor space, you won't need to place scarecrows to protect your crops. Finally, once the Greenhouse is restored, you can place it anywhere on your farm for free on the Carpenter's Shop. To use the Greenhouse, you'll have to repair it first. You can do so by completing the pantry bundles in the Community Center , or you could just buy the "Greenhouse" project from the Joja Community Development Form. How many resources you spend trying to restore the Greenhouse will depend on the route you choose. If you choose this option, you'll have to complete all the pantry bundles by donating to the Junimos the following crops and products:.

The greenhouse in Stardew Valley is one of the most distinctive and beneficial buildings for growing crops year-round, but since players only get just one with limited space inside, it's vital that they strategize their layouts to make the most of the greenhouse. Though players will come to own many different buildings such as barns, coops, and stables, the greenhouse is an outlier as right from the start of Stardew Valley, it already sits dilapidated on the farm shrouded in overgrowth. With that simple allure alone, players will have their own impressive greenhouse by improving it, providing them with an invaluable albeit small indoor farming space. The biggest advantage of the greenhouse is that it allows players to grow any kind of crop regardless of the in-game season, hence why Stardew Valley limits the player to just one greenhouse with only so much space. As a result, the greenhouse is a masterclass in helping players embrace Stardew Valley's strategic mindset since players will need to take a step back and consider how they will best use this area. But beyond just deciding on which choice of seeds to plant and sprinklers to use, there are certain tricks to the greenhouse that mean its best layout requires patience and planning. Though it doesn't seem like it should be possible, Stardew Valley allows fruit trees to be planted in the surrounding edges of the greenhouse regardless of there only being a ten-by-twelve grid of earth.

While cactus fruit isn't necessarily the most valuable crop you can use your greenhouse space for, there are a few characters who love it as a gift and a number of quests that will request you retrieve some for friendship points and gold.
